Sorso, Sardinia to Host Contemporary Music Concert Exploring Gender Identity

Sorso, Sardinia, will be the setting for a unique contemporary music concert on February 22nd, 2026, at the Church of Santa Croce. The event, titled “Assonanze,” will feature four original compositions exploring the theme of gender identity, set to lyrics penned by Sardinian writer Michele Pio Ledda. The concert begins at 7:30 PM.

A Collaborative Artistic Project

The initiative is a collaboration between the Santa Croce Polyphonic Choir Association and the Laborintus musical club. The performance will blend wind and percussion ensembles, choirs, solo vocalists, a narrator, a Hybrid Wind Performance, and dance, creating a multifaceted artistic experience.

Exploring Identity Through Music and Performance

The four original compositions, based on Ledda’s texts, are designed as an emotional and narrative journey. They delve into the complexities of identity, exploring moods, doubts, internal tensions, and perceptions. Contemporary music serves as the primary language, aiming to articulate experiences of fragility, resistance, confusion, and affirmation.

Key Performers and Artistic Elements

Daniele Monachella will provide the reciting voice throughout the concert, while Gianfranco de Franco will contribute a Hybrid Wind Performance. These elements will create a continuous narrative thread connecting words and sound. The expressive tensions of the music will be further interpreted through dance, with performances by the “Danza Cillica ASD” school, directed by Simona Cillo.
