Indonesia’s Capital City Project: Basuki Aims High, Eyes Japanese Investment
Basuki, Jakarta’s former governor, remains deeply committed to the groundbreaking progress of Indonesia’s new capital city, Nusantara, better known as IKN. Recently, Basuki announced efforts to secure Japanese real estate giant Sojitz as a participant in IKN’s upcoming groundbreaking ceremony.
While precise details regarding the groundbreaking ceremony’s timing remain unknown, Basuki emphasized its dependence on Presidential Secretariat approval to align with President Joko Widodo’s schedule.
Basuki’s enthusiasm echoes Widodo’s previous pronouncements, viewing investment in IKN not merely as a financial move, but as an investment in Indonesia’s future.
Investing in Indonesia’s Future: Widodo’s Vision
During various groundbreaking events, Widodo consistently affirmed that investing in IKN is akin to securing the future. A recent instance occurred on September 25, 2024, during the eighth phase groundbreaking. Basuki echoed the sentiment during separate groundbreaking events for the Astra Biz Center and Nusantara Botanical Garden held on June 4, 2024.
“Investing in IKN is buying the future, buying an atmosphere that we cannot get elsewhere,” Jokowi stated in a live broadcast observed by Tempo on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel.
