INAPAM Issues Urgent Health Notice for Older Adults in Mexico Amid Rising Respiratory Illnesses

Mexico City, February 21, 2026 – The National Institute for Older Adults (INAPAM) has issued an urgent health notice addressing a recent increase in respiratory illnesses among its members, coinciding with the persistence of cold fronts and extreme climate conditions. The institute is emphasizing the importance of preventative care for older adults.

Increase in Respiratory Infections

INAPAM reports a rise in cases of allergies and acute respiratory infections, including influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and other seasonal pathogens. Acute respiratory infections affect the upper or lower respiratory tract and can manifest as the common cold, influenza, bronchitis, or pneumonia.

Free Medical Care at CAI Universidad INAPAM

INAPAM is reaffirming its commitment to the well-being of older adults through its CAI University Comprehensive Care Center. Medical care is provided free of charge, Monday through Friday, with the following schedules:

  • Morning Shift: 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM
  • Evening Shift: 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM
