ING Events and Initiatives Promote Interfaith Dialogue and Youth Empowerment
The Intercultural Networks Group (ING) continues its commitment to fostering understanding and bridging divides through a series of upcoming events and programs focused on interfaith dialogue, youth empowerment, and cultural competency. These initiatives span the Bay Area, West Virginia, and beyond, addressing critical needs for inclusivity and education in diverse communities.
Interfaith Service at “Bands Together Bay Area” Benefit Concert
ING Executive Director Maha Elgenaidi will lead a prayer service prior to the “Bands Together Bay Area” benefit concert at AT&T Park on October 9th. The service will unite faith leaders from various traditions – including Roman Catholic, Zen Buddhist, Episcopal, Jewish, and Brahma Kumaris – in a collective effort to support communities impacted by recent devastating fires in the North Bay region. ING is partnering with Tipping Point Community for this event, which features a lineup of prominent musicians including Metallica, G-Eazy, Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds, Rancid, Dead & Company, and Rafael Saadiq. Tickets are available for purchase.
Youth Empowerment Programs in West Virginia
INGYouth is expanding its reach with a fresh program in Charleston, West Virginia, hosting a Youth Empowerment Workshop and a Youth Speaker Workshop on November 11th. ING Managing Director Maha Elgenaidi will deliver a lecture as part of this initiative. The program aims to equip young Muslims with the skills to engage in constructive dialogue and address challenging questions about Islam. The Islamic Instructor Training Institute, a component of the program, provides resources for individuals to confidently discuss American Muslim experiences and their faith in various settings. The newly trained speakers will form the core of a new ING subsidiary in Charleston. For more information, contact Ishaq Pathan at ishaq@ing.org or 408-296-7312 (ext. 130). Event listings are available on the ING website.
Cultural Diversity Seminar for Educators
On November 15th, ING Content Director Amina Jandali will lead a Cultural Diversity Seminar for Education Professionals in San Ramon, California. The seminar, titled “Understanding Muslim Students: Creating an Inclusive Environment,” will address common stereotypes about Islam and their potential impact on Muslim students. The goal is to provide educators and administrators with tools to foster a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students. The seminar will also provide a platform for educators to share their experiences in diverse classroom settings.
“Muslim Women Beyond Stereotypes” Presentation
Maha Elgenaidi will present “Muslim Women Beyond Stereotypes” at a special gathering on November 19th at Trinity Episcopal Church in Menlo Park, California. The event highlights Trinity Church’s dedication to promoting peace and understanding between Christian and Muslim communities, and reflects the strong relationship between Elgenaidi and Pastor Matthew Dutton-Gillett, Senior Pastor of Trinity Anglican Church.
