Johanniter Hospital Stendal receives €319,000 for outpatient Surgery Center Restoration

The Johanniter Hospital Stendal is set to benefit from a €319,000 investment from the Corona special fund, earmarked for the restoration of its outpatient surgery center. This funding will enable the hospital to fully resume operations at the center, enhancing healthcare accessibility for the Stendal community.

Along with the restoration, the hospital will relocate its laboratory, previously situated within the outpatient surgery area, to the former intensive care unit. This strategic move aims to optimize space utilization and maintain essential laboratory services.

Health Minister Petra Grimm-Benne emphasized the importance of the project, stating, “By creating a distinct separation from the inpatient operating room, we are bolstering preventative measures in the event of future pandemics.” This highlights the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and pandemic preparedness.

Hospital director Jens Domke echoed this sentiment, noting, “This funding is crucial for our ability to fully reinstate outpatient surgery services at the Johanniter Hospital Stendal.” The restoration is expected to substantially improve the hospital’s capacity to provide timely and effective care to patients requiring non-inpatient surgical procedures.

The Corona special fund, established to address the ongoing consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, also serves as a proactive measure to enhance preparedness for potential future health crises and supply chain disruptions. This investment in the Johanniter Hospital Stendal exemplifies the fund’s dual purpose of mitigating past impacts and fortifying future resilience.
