Iran Women’s Football Team Returns Home After Australia Asylum Drama

Members of the Iran women’s national football team and their support staff have returned to Iran, following a period of uncertainty after some players considered seeking asylum in Australia.

Return Via Turkey

The team entered Iranian territory via a border crossing in eastern Turkey on Wednesday, according to reports from Iran’s Fars news agency Reuters. Prior to crossing the border, the players had traveled to Istanbul, Turkey, landing at the airport on Tuesday evening Yahoo Sports.
