Republic of Ireland Drawn with France, Netherlands, and Poland in 2027 World Cup Qualifying

League A

Group 1: Sweden, italy, Denmark, Serbia

Group 2: France, netherlands, Poland, Republic of Ireland

Group 3: Spain, England, Iceland, Ukraine

Group 4: Germany, Norway, Austria, Slovenia

After earning promotion to League A of teh World Cup qualifying process, the Republic of Ireland knew they’d face a tough challenge in their effort to qualify for the 2027 tournament in Brazil. Tuesday afternoon’s draw proved relatively kind – they’re in a group with France, the Netherlands, and Poland.

The most challenging group is A3, which includes world and European champions Spain and England. Ukraine, drawn from Ireland’s pot, will face that competition.

France, who Ireland beat in Cork last year, and Poland were the lowest-ranked nations in pots one and three, making that part of the draw favorable. The Netherlands, drawn from pot two, presents a greater challenge.

France and the Netherlands are expected to compete for the top spot in the group, while ireland and Poland (ranked 26th) will likely battle for third place.
