Covegreen presents “The Evening of Miracles,” a unique storytelling-concert experience featuring Michele Cortese and Donato Zoppo. This captivating performance is a heartfelt homage to six of Italy’s most influential and beloved songwriters: Lucio Dalla, Franco Battiato, Fabrizio de André, Ivan Graziani, Edoardo Bennato, and Lucio Battisti.
Following the success of their tribute to Lucio Battisti and Mogol, Cortese and Zoppo have crafted a new show that blends musical performance with insightful narrative. The evening will explore the origins of these iconic songs, the artistic philosophies of the composers, and their significant impact on Italian culture, politics, and music during the 1970s and 80s. expect a dynamic interplay between vocals, guitar, and keyboard, culminating in compelling acoustic interpretations of these timeless classics.
Beyond the Concert: A visual Journey Through Rock History
Enhance your evening with a complementary art exhibition. Prior to the concert, at 6:30 PM, Covegreen will inaugurate a display of vintage black and white rock album covers curated by Paolo Mazzucchelli and the Covegreen association. This exhibition will be held at the new municipal library on Via Bardelloni, offering a fascinating glimpse into the visual artistry that accompanied a golden age of music. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), album artwork remains a crucial element of the music experience, influencing sales and artist branding even in the digital age.
Meet the Artists
Michele Cortese: A versatile musician and singer-songwriter, Cortese rose to prominence after winning the first edition of X-Factor. He further distinguished himself on the international stage, representing Italy and Europe at the prestigious viña Del Mar International Song festival in Chile, where he secured both the “best Interpreter” and “Best Song” awards. Cortese boasts a discography of four albums and has collaborated with a remarkable roster of Italian musical legends, including Riccardo Cocciante, Lucio Dalla, Andrea Bocelli, and alberto Radius. His passion for Battisti and Dalla has led to critically acclaimed storytelling-concerts dedicated to their work.
Donato Zoppo: A respected writer and music journalist, Zoppo contributes to prominent publications like AudioreView and Jam. For two decades, he has hosted the popular radio programme “Rock City Nights.” As director of Synpress44 as 2005, he provides communication services for a diverse range of musical artists and events. Zoppo’s insightful essays cover a broad spectrum of musical history,from The Beatles to PFM and Litfiba,establishing him as a leading voice in Italian music criticism.
