26 Teams Participate in Jackson’s Annual Mud Volleyball Tournament
Over 26 teams competed in the 2024 Jackson Mud Volleyball Tournament at Jackson City Park, according to the Jackson Park Management Office. The event, held on Saturday, drew participants from across the region for a day of competitive play in challenging muddy conditions.
Event Overview and Participation
The annual tournament, now in its 15th year, features teams of six players competing on a modified beach volleyball court coated with mud. Organizers reported a record turnout this year, surpassing last year’s 22 teams. “We’re thrilled with the growth of the event,” said Jackson Park spokesperson Lisa Nguyen. “It’s a great way for the community to come together and enjoy outdoor fun.”

Teams ranged from local recreational groups to college athletes, with divisions for adults and youth. The tournament included a 10-a-side format, with matches lasting 45 minutes each. Weather conditions were described as “moderate,” with light rain earlier in the day that dried up by mid-afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Community and Charity Focus
Proceeds from the event benefited the Jackson Community Center’s youth sports programs. Organizers estimated the tournament raised over $15,000, with additional donations from local businesses. “This is more than a game—it’s about giving back,” said tournament director Mark Reynolds. “We’re grateful to everyone who supported the cause.”
Participants praised the event’s atmosphere. “It’s chaotic, but that’s the fun of it,” said Sarah Collins, a player from the team “Mud Masters.” “The mud makes every play unpredictable, and the camaraderie is unmatched.”
Looking Ahead
Plans for next year’s tournament are already underway, with organizers aiming to expand the event to include a weekend-long festival. “We want to make this a staple in the community,” Nguyen said. “Expect more activities, food vendors, and opportunities for families to get involved.”
