Jakarta Records Rp249.3 Trillion in Investment
The absorption of more than 440 thousand workers shows that investment has an important role in opening up employment opportunities and driving economic activity,
said Heru Hermawanto, Head of the DKI Jakarta Investment and One-Stop Service Agency (DPMPTSP).
Investment realization in DKI Jakarta reached Rp249.3 trillion between January and September 2026, retaining the capital’s position at the top of national investment rankings, voi.id reported. The figure represents a 22.1 percent increase compared to the Rp204.2 trillion recorded during the same nine-month period in 2025. Data from the Ministry of Investment and Industrialization/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) shows this performance contributed 16.2 percent to total national investment. The capital influx resulted in the direct absorption of 440,744 workers across domestic and foreign projects.
Domestic Capital Creates Most New Jobs
Domestic Investment (PMDN) accounted for the vast majority of new jobs, bringing in 322,380 workers during the first three quarters of 2026. Foreign Investment (PMA) contributed another 118,364 jobs to the local economy.
Quarterly figures indicate steady growth, with the third quarter of 2026 alone pulling in Rp75.7 trillion—consisting of Rp53.6 trillion in domestic capital and Rp22.1 trillion from foreign backers. This third-quarter performance marked a 19.49 percent rise from the Rp63.3 trillion registered in the third quarter of 2025, contributing 14.3 percent to the national total for that specific quarter.
South Jakarta Captures Largest Investment Share
South Jakarta captured the largest share of the capital’s investment, drawing Rp96.9 trillion or 39 percent of the total regional realization. Central Jakarta followed with Rp68.5 trillion (28 percent), North Jakarta secured Rp32.2 trillion (13 percent), West Jakarta recorded Rp28 trillion (11 percent), and East Jakarta reached Rp23.4 trillion (9 percent). The Thousand Islands Regency recorded Rp291 billion, representing 0.1 percent of the total.
Sector-wise, transportation, warehousing, and telecommunications led all industries with Rp76.3 trillion, making up 31 percent of investments. Other service sectors attracted Rp69.3 trillion (28 percent), while trade and repair brought in Rp34.3 trillion (14 percent).
Singapore Leads Foreign Investment Sources
Singapore remained the leading source of foreign investment in Jakarta, contributing IDR 37.9 trillion. The People’s Republic of China followed with IDR 12.9 trillion, Hong Kong with IDR 7.6 trillion, Japan with IDR 6.9 trillion, and South Korea with IDR 3.3 trillion.
Heru attributed the strong numbers to regional infrastructure, a favorable business climate, and administrative directives from Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung aimed at improving public service quality and licensing procedures. Officials stated that maintaining this momentum requires continuous refinement of bureaucratic processes to safeguard international confidence.
