Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts left Sunday’s game against the Commanders with a concussion.
These concerns linger as the Eagles fight for the NFC’s top seed in the playoffs. The injury occurred in the first quarter during an Eagles touchdown drive. Hurts visibly hesitated after his head struck the turf during a tackle and walked slowly to the sideline.

He was replaced by backup quarterback Kenny Pickett. The Eagles eventually ruled him out later in the quarter.

Pickett guided the Eagles down the field, connecting with A.J. Brown for a touchdown to extend Philadelphia’s lead to 14-0. Before their next drive, the Eagles announced that Hurts was being evaluated for a concussion . Pickett had a challenging time finding consistency throughout the remainder of his time in the game, ultimately throwing an interception and failing to score another touchdown.

Washington capitalized on Pickett’s struggles and scored a touchdown, cutting Philadelphia’s lead to 14-7. Hurts’ absence leaves a significant question mark for the Eagles. Hurts is a dynamic player who has propelled the team to success this season. A prolonged absence would be a major blow to their playoff aspirations.

As a two-time Pro Bowler, Hurts has been instrumental to the Eagles’ success this season. Entering Sunday’s game, he had completed 69.2% of his passes for an average of 206.6 yards per game, throwing 18 touchdowns and five interceptions. His mobility and leadership are essential to Philadelphia’s offensive scheme.

Stay tuned for updates on Hurts’ condition and his potential return to the field.
