Women’s Singles: A Three-Peat Bid and Rising Stars
Heading the women’s team is the formidable Sakamoto Mako**, aiming to become the first woman in 65 years to win four consecutive world titles.
Joining her are promising contenders.
- Chiba Mone:** Despite finishing fourth at the national championships, Chiba secured her spot with a stellar Grand Prix campaign, clinching three silver medals at the NHK Trophy, Cup of China, and Grand Prix Final.
- Higuchi Wakaba:** Making a triumphant return to the international stage, Higuchi achieved her first career Grand Prix victory at Skate America and followed it up with a second-place finish at Grand Prix de France.
“The free skate yesterday was frustrating but I’m honored to be chosen for the world championships,” said Chiba. “I hope to deliver a maximum performance and help us secure three places.”
