Woman Alleging Assault by Diddy Now Accuses Jay-Z in Amended Lawsuit
A woman who previously accused Sean "Diddy" Combs of sexual assault has expanded her lawsuit to include allegations against rapper Jay-Z, claiming both artists assaulted her at the same 2000 after-party following the Video Music Awards.
The lawsuit, initially filed against Combs in October, was amended on Sunday to include Shawn Carter, Jay-Z’s legal name. This makes Jay-Z the first celebrity to face sexual assault accusations related to the case.
Allegations of Assault and Subsequent Retaliation
The woman, identified as Jane Doe in the lawsuit, alleges that she was only 13 years old at the time of the alleged assaults. According to the amended lawsuit, she became unwell after consuming a drink at the party and went to a nearby bedroom where she was allegedly raped first by Carter, followed by Combs. Doe states she then struck Combs and fled the party.
Carter, originally referred to as "Celebrity A" in the initial lawsuit, is accused of, according to the lawsuit, retaliating against Doe’s legal team by filing “an utterly frivolous lawsuit” and orchestrating a “conspiracy of harassment, bullying, and intimidation” against them, their families, employees, and former associates.
The lawsuit claims that these actions were meant to silence Doe from naming Carter in the suit and discredit her legal representatives.
Both Sides Respond
Houston-based attorney Tony Buzbee, representing Doe, has stated that the allegations speak for themselves and that the matter will be settled in court.
In response, Carter released a statement expressing his "heartbreak" for his family, expressing that his children may be subjected to questions due to the accusations despite his innocence. He claims that the allegations are "made up" and accuses Buzbee of attempting extortion, threatening to publicly disclose false and salacious allegations if his demands weren’t met.
Buzbee, on social media, denied the extortion claims, stating that Doe never demanded money from Carter and only sought confidential mediation. He proclaimed Doe’s courage and expressed confidence in the resolution of the matter through full public disclosure.
