Jay-Z Demands Name of Accuser in Rape Allegation Case
Jay-Z is taking a stand in a shocking lawsuit that accuses him and rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping a 13-year-old girl over two decades ago.
Just one day after being named in a lawsuit, Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, is demanding the plaintiff’s identity be revealed or for the entire case to be dismissed. Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, filed a motion in New York federal court, arguing that it’s only fair for “Mr. Carter to know the person accusing him – in sensationalized, publicity-hunting fashion – of criminal conduct.”
Allegations Against Diddy and “Celebrity A”
The lawsuit, initially filed by lawyer Tony Buzbee, alleges that a brutal sexual assault took place during one of Diddy’s infamous “freak offs” after the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards. The October 20 legal documents name Diddy, but identified the other alleged assailants as “Celebrity A” and “Celebrity B.”
Last week, those undisclosed celebrities were exposed. “Celebrity A” was revealed to be Jay-Z, and the case against Diddy centers around racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution.
Diddy, whose birth name is Sean Combs, has pleaded not guilty to the charges and remains behind bars at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center. He faces life in prison if convicted at his trial, scheduled for May 5, 2025.
Jay-Z’s Response to the Lawsuit
Jay-Z, known for his sharp lyrics and business acumen, released a statement directly addressing the allegations. He called the accusations “so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!!” He urged anyone involved in such a crime against a minor to be held accountable.
Jay-Z went on to criticize Buzbee, calling him “a lawyer who seems to have a pattern of these types of theatrics!”. He even challenged Buzbee’s military service credentials, writing, “You claim to be a marine?! Marines are known for their valor, you have neither honor nor dignity.”

Buzbee, undeterred, fired back on social media, claiming that Jay-Z “has not only sued me, but he has tried to bully and harass me and this plaintiff.”
