Jennifer Lopez Apparently Refused To Pay Bruno Mars’ “Ridiculous” $5 Million Fee To Perform At Her Wedding, And I Can’t Say I Blame Her

fêtes are known for being excessive, extravagant affairs, with major stars often demanding huge fees to perform. And Jennifer Lopez’s planned wedding to Alex Rodriguez was seemingly no exception!

According to celebrity wedding planner Marcy Blum (who was tapped to help plan the A-list nuptials before they called it off), Jennifer was initially interested in having Bruno Mars perform at her big day. However, Bruno’s price tag reportedly caused the superstar to change her mind.

A Staggering Price Tag

During an appearance on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast, Marcy revealed that Bruno would have commanded a cool five million dollars for a 45-minute set.

“We just worked with him, and he’s five [million],” Marcy explained, causing podcast host Michael Bosstick to balk.

“Million?” he exclaimed. “Just to perform for the night?”

“The night?!” Marcy clarified. “You get 45 minutes, you get an hour."

This jaw-dropping performance fee naturally stunned Jennifer and prompted her to say, “Don’t be ridiculous!”

Marcy went on to share that despite Bruno Mars not performing at the Lopez-Rodríguez wedding, she did manage to book him for another lavish wedding later that year.

Marcy’s Wedding Planning Advice

Besides revealing Bruno Mars’ hefty fee, Marcy also dished some insider tips for couples planning their big day. For example, she suggests avoiding hiring a mega-star like Bruno as the main entertainment for the first dance.

“You would never have a headliner, if you were sane, as the regular entertainment,” Marcy explained. “No one wants to do their first dance — or maybe they do, but they shouldn’t — to Coldplay or something. That’s just dumb.”

She recommends hiring a more traditional band and a DJ for entertainment during cocktail hour and late in the evening, adding a superstar performance as an extra special treat.

Neither Bruno Mars nor J.Lo have publicly commented on Marcy’s recent revelations, and BuzzFeed has reached out to their representatives for comment.

What are your thoughts? Would you hire a big-name star like Bruno Mars to perform at your wedding?
