Heights University Hospital Closure and Continued Healthcare Access in Jersey City

Heights University Hospital (HUH) in Jersey City is transitioning its emergency department services on March 14, 2026, at 7:30 pm. Despite this change, healthcare access for the Jersey City Heights community will be maintained through a partnership with Alliance Community Healthcare (ACHI) and continued services offered by Hudson Regional Health (HRH).

Partnership with Alliance Community Healthcare

Alliance Community Healthcare, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), has partnered with HRH to provide a comprehensive range of healthcare services to the Heights community. ACHI will operate from space within HRH’s Heights Medical Office Building (MOB) located at 142 Palisade Avenue, expanding access to primary and preventive care. This collaboration includes the integration of several HRH residents, OB fellows and two Neighborhood Health Physicians, ensuring continuity of care for existing patients.

Continued Services at Heights Medical Office Building

HRH will continue to offer a variety of healthcare options at the Heights MOB. For two weeks following the suspension of emergency department services, an ambulance will be stationed outside the Emergency Department to transport patients requiring emergency care to other facilities. HRH will deploy its Foundation Mobile Health Unit in partnership with Jersey City community groups to provide medical services over the coming months.
