Former Porn Star Joshua Broome Urges Men to Find Their Voice and Embrace Faith
Joshua Broome, a former adult film star turned pastor, is on a mission to inspire men to pursue their true identities and actively engage in their faith, families, and culture. Broome, who renounced the porn industry and embraced Christianity, believes that silence is a key tactic used to undermine men’s purpose and influence.
The Power of Silence and Cultural Indoctrination
Speaking on “The Bible Bros Podcast With Billy and Dalton,” Broome asserted, “If Satan can’t rob you of your salvation, he’ll settle for your silence.” He argues that a man’s silence is a significant victory for opposing forces. Broome emphasizes that true leadership extends beyond personal life, encompassing family and cultural influence. “You’re not leading yourself if you’re not leading your family, if you’re not speaking into culture,” he stated.
Broome contends that silence allows for unchecked ideological indoctrination. “What we don’t say says something very loudly,” he explained. “And when people are proclaiming their agendas, their ideologies, and there’s no pushback against that … we’re being indoctrinated by something.”
Ignite Men’s Impact Weekend: A Call to Action
Broome actively encourages men to connect with their faith and become proactive leaders. He recently participated in the Ignite Men’s Impact Weekend, held March 13-14 in Lynchburg, Virginia, an event that drew approximately 7,000 men. The event, now in its 30th year, offers a blend of spiritual enrichment and engaging activities.
Ignite Men’s Impact Weekend features workshops, opportunities to honor military veterans, and activities like axe throwing. Speakers included Broome, Tim Timberlake, Jon Gordon, and Rhett Walker. The event is hosted at Thomas Road Baptist Church, located on the campus of Liberty University.
Focus on Gospel and Discipleship
The primary objective of Ignite, according to Broome, is to share the Gospel, connect men with local churches, and guide them on a discipleship journey. He also highlighted the event’s appeal to men facing various challenges, including pornography addiction or feelings of cultural passivity. “It’s about helping men become the people they are meant to be,” Broome said.
