Schemes Bio Co., Ltd. and the GC Green Cross Medical Foundation have entered into a collaborative agreement to advance research, provide academic support, and facilitate the commercialization of technologies within the K-EDN (Eosinophil Derived Neurotoxin) field. This partnership is anticipated to accelerate the advancement and availability of K-EDN diagnostic kits.
The agreement, recently signed by representatives from both organizations in Gyeonggi-do, outlines a commitment to joint efforts across the K-EDN business area. This includes shared research initiatives, academic collaboration, and a focused approach to bringing K-EDN-based products to market.
K-EDN represents a novel diagnostic technology centered around Eosinophil-derived neurotoxin.Originally developed by Professor Kim Chang-geun of Inje University Sanggye Paik Hospital – also a former President of the Korea Pediatric Allergy Response Society – it was officially recognized as a new medical technology by the Korea Health Research Institute in 2022.
simsims bio, a biomedical firm, has already begun leveraging this original K-EDN technology in the creation of diagnostic kits.
The collaboration will involve a complete exchange of resources, including research facilities, equipment, and personnel, to foster ongoing joint research and business development.
This combined effort is expected to significantly expedite the commercialization of K-EDN diagnostic kits. Successful commercialization promises to substantially improve the diagnosis of asthma and allergies in infants and young children.
Officials from the GC Green Cross Medical Foundation expressed optimism about the synergistic benefits of this partnership.
Kim Chang-geun,CEO of Schemes Bio and a professor specializing in asthma and allergic centers at Inje Medical School, stated that the MOU marks the beginning of a broader range of collaborative business ventures.
