MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State kept 10th-ranked TCU off the scoreboard for 82 minutes on Thursday night at Buser Family Park, but the Horned Frogs netted their only tally in the 83rd minute to secure the 1-0 win in the Wildcats’ Big 12 home opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- K-State (5-2-2, 0-1-1 Big 12) registered its 15th shutout half of the season in the first half, as the Wildcats kept TCU (7-1-0, 1-0-0) off the scoreboard despite a 10-2 shot advantage by the Horned Frogs. This was the ninth straight match in which the Wildcats have not conceded a goal in the opening half.
- The Wildcats would outshoot the Horned Frogs in the second half, 8-6, and put four of its eight attempts on goal.
- TCU would collect its lone goal of the night from Sydney Becerra who fired from 20 yards and found space just under the crossbar. This was the fifth game-winning goal this season for the Horned Frogs which was scored in the final 11 minutes of the match.

Following a hard-fought match, K-State players highlighted their team’s effort and potential. “I’m proud of the effort that we put out on the field. I think that this shows that we can compete with anybody,in the Big 12,and in the country. I think we’re a force to be reckoned with right now,” a player stated. The team lauded the remarkable performance of defender Maddie Sibbing. One player described Sibbing as her “bodyguard,” praising her remarkable saves and humble demeanor. “Ther are so many times that she makes saves that I don’t know if anybody else in the country can make,” she said. “She is so good and she’s so humble, and you would never know that as good as she is, as she’s not cocky and she’s just the best human ever. I am so happy to have her behind me. I wouldn’t want it any othre way.”
