Kansai Dominance Stalls All Japan University Championship Dreams

The long-cherished desire to participate in the All-Japan Championships fails to break down the Kansai stronghold/All-Japan University Championships

Meiji University finished the fall league in second place and advanced to the All Japan University Championship (All Japan). In the first match, Kansai’s powerhouse, Kansai University, stood in their way. Instantly after the start, they took the lead with a kickoff that caught their opponents by surprise and took the lead. It seemed like they had gained some momentum, but Kansai University’s solid runs and skillful passing took away control of the game. In the second half, they tried to close the gap by attacking with passes centered around QB #15 keifu Shinraku (commercial 4 = Tokyo Metropolitan Toyama), but they were unable to catch up. The dream All-Japan stage unfortunately came to an end with the first match.

Immediately after the match started, Meiji University took the lead. They induced a mistake from Kansai University on the kickoff and gained the right to attack from around 50 yards from the enemy line, and a long pass of about 50 yards from Shinraku to WL #19 Vice Admiral Hiroki Igarashi (text 4 = Sayamagaoka) was decided, resulting in a TD (touchdown).
