Latvian Artist Kārlis Biķernieks Dies at 46

Kārlis Biķernieks, a multifaceted Latvian artist known for his work in music, visual arts, and performance, has died, Latvian media reported on February 27, 2026. He was 46 years old.

A Diverse Artistic Career

Biķernieks studied visual communication at the Latvian Academy of Arts and philosophy at the University of Latvia. His artistic output spanned a wide range of disciplines, including experimental music, DJing, rapping, acting, performance art, and street art.

He was involved in several underground music groups, including “Origo Boys,” “Full Retard Slumber Party Records,” and “Tripple Sex,” as well as the duos “Ceriņi” and “Tone It Down a Little.” He co-managed the record company No Sex Just Talk with artist Kaspars Groševs. Groševs is an artist and curator based in Riga, Latvia, and co-founded the 427 gallery.

Biķernieks collaborated with creative associations “Golf Clayderman” and “Next Level Media Solutions,” and artists Agnes Krivadi and Kati Krolli, creating numerous performances. He also participated in the play “Andy V. There’s nothing behind it all,” directed by Kristine Vitolas.

He co-hosted the “Pusgaumīgā picca” podcast for the “427” gallery. In October 2024, his exhibition “Mystery” was on display at the gallery.

Recent Exhibition and Condolences

Biķernieks’s final exhibition, “Mystery,” was held at the 427 gallery in October 2024. The TVNET portal expressed condolences to his family, relatives, colleagues, and friends.
