From Reality TV Finalist to Champs-Élysées
Guillaume, a 28-year-old entrepreneur and former Koh-Lanta finalist, marched down the Champs-Élysées on July 14. Dressed in the uniform of a reserve marine fusilier, he stood alongside active-duty personnel to represent the French Navy during the national holiday parade.
A Legacy of Naval Service
Guillaume’s path to the reserves is rooted in family tradition. In an interview with TF1, he cited a deep-seated patriotic duty and a history of naval service, noting that both of his grandfathers served in the French Navy. His current role allows him to bridge the gap between his civilian career and his military obligations.

Commitment Beyond the Quota
The French military reserve system mandates a 42-day annual commitment, a structure Guillaume describes as “extremely comfortable.” It provides the flexibility to maintain his professional life while contributing to specialized naval missions. In fact, he has exceeded his annual quota, driven by his dedication to supporting the French Marine Commandos in their operations.
The Discipline of the March
Marching in the national parade demands more than just endurance; it requires intense synchronization. While individual marching is straightforward, coordinating a formation of multiple sailors is a different challenge. "The slightest unsynchronized movement is instantly visible," he told Le Parisien.
The unit prepared with a focus on collective discipline, following the military adage: "difficult training, easy war." Every detail—from the timing of the left foot hitting the ground to the precision of arm movements—was calibrated in the days leading up to the ceremony.
Navigating Life After Koh-Lanta
Guillaume first gained public recognition after surviving 40 days in a remote environment on Koh-Lanta. He has since pivoted toward other high-engagement pursuits, including a year-long expedition aboard a sailboat currently in the works.
His appearance at the parade caught the eye of viewers who recognized him from the screen, underscoring the diverse roles held by the French military reserve. As a reserve fusilier, he remains eligible for various assignments, continuing to integrate his professional expertise with his naval training.
