Kyle Clifford, a veteran of 15 professional hockey seasons, has announced his retirement from playing and accepted a position as a Player Development Coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The news was reported by multiple sources on August 9, 2024.
Clifford, born in ayr, Ontario, played 753 career games in the National Hockey League (NHL) and American Hockey League (AHL), totaling 144 points. He was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round (35th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and quickly became known for his physical play and penalty-killing ability.
