Thanh Oai Launches District-Wide Health Screening Drive
Thanh Oai district authorities in Hanoi have launched a comprehensive public health initiative providing free medical examinations and screenings for local residents. Managed in coordination with the Ha Dong General Hospital, the program focuses on early disease detection and the integration of electronic health records to streamline local access to professional medical services.
Targeting Preventative Care
Spearheaded by the Thanh Oai People’s Committee, the initiative targets multiple demographic groups across the commune. Vice Chairman Nguyen Hong Hai stated the primary goal is to shift the local healthcare focus toward preventative medicine. By conducting regular, systematic screenings, the district intends to reduce the long-term burden of chronic illness and provide residents with actionable health data.
Ha Dong General Hospital and local health centers are executing these examinations through standardized procedures, including:
- Internal medicine consultations and blood pressure monitoring.
- Physical fitness assessments.
- Specialized screenings for vision, hearing, and dental health.
- Diagnostic testing, including blood analysis, urine samples, and radiological imaging.
A Multi-Phase Rollout
The service rollout is structured to ensure consistent coverage. The initial phase currently prioritizes social policy beneficiaries in the Thanh Mai, Kim An, and Kim Bai areas. From October to December 2026, the committee plans to extend these services to the remaining population within these areas. Additionally, the initiative includes scheduled health checks for students at the start of the academic year and an ongoing registration process for residents who wish to participate in subsequent screenings.
Transitioning to Digital Patient Records
A central component of this project is the transition to digital health management. By documenting examination results, medical histories, and preventative advice into a unified electronic system, the district aims to create a sustainable framework for public health monitoring. Following each examination, patients receive personalized guidance on nutrition, disease prevention, and necessary follow-up care. This effort seeks to bridge the gap between primary care and specialized treatment, ensuring residents have a consistent, documented record of their health status accessible for future needs.
Removing Barriers to Professional Care
The program is designed to address health disparities at the commune level. By bringing specialized medical staff from Ha Dong General Hospital directly to the community, the initiative removes logistical barriers that often prevent residents from seeking routine medical evaluations. The focus on early detection is expected to lower the incidence of advanced-stage diseases, ultimately contributing to a higher quality of life for the participants. Success depends on continued coordination between local administrative leadership and medical professionals to maintain safety and service quality throughout the multi-phase deployment.
