Despite falling behind early, the Red Bulls fought bravely and pulled a goal back in the 28th minute through a powerful volley from center back Sean Nealis. Led by Emil Forsberg, they searched for an equalizer but ultimately couldn’t overcome the Galaxy’s lead.
The loss marks the second-ever MLS Cup appearance for the Red Bulls and leaves them as one of only three original league teams to never lift the cup.
