The City of La Marque has announced the resignation of its city manager following accusations concerning the veracity of information provided during the application process. The declaration follows a special city council meeting convened to address the developing situation.

Investigation Details

The La Marque Police Department is currently investigating claims related to the city manager’s military service record and educational qualifications. Police Chief randall Aragon stated the investigation was initiated after a city council member raised concerns in June.

Potential Charges

Chief Aragon anticipates the filing of warrants and potential charges against the former city manager, J.B.Pritchett, for allegedly falsifying military records and educational credentials. Both offenses are classified as Class B misdemeanors in Texas, carrying a potential sentence of up to six months in jail and a fine of $4,000 upon conviction.

“As information came to light, we felt compelled to investigate,” explained Chief Aragon. “The findings suggest the allegations have merit.” Pritchett had served with the city for approximately four years, progressing from interim city manager to deputy city manager before being officially appointed to the city manager position a few months ago.

During the investigation and subsequent search for a permanent replacement, the city’s deputy city manager will assume the responsibilities of the city manager role on an interim basis.

Ongoing Investigation
