‘Lajna’ Series to Extend to the Big Screen with Film Adaptation in 2026

The immensely popular Czech television series Lajna, which captivated audiences in 2025, is set to transition to the big screen with a film adaptation slated for release on December 31, 2026. The series, known for its sharp humor and relatable characters, will continue to follow the lives of hockey coach Luboš Hrouzek, played by Jiří Langmajer, and his girlfriend Denisa, portrayed by Hana Vagnerová.

From Television Hit to Film Adaptation

Lajna initially gained prominence on Stream.cz and Televize Seznam, becoming a cultural phenomenon with its witty dialogue and engaging storyline. The series, penned by screenwriter Petr Kolečko, centers around the personal and professional challenges faced by Luboš Hrouzek, an Olympic gold medalist and former NHL player. Kolečko expressed his enthusiasm for the film adaptation, stating that he was happy to be reunited with the characters.

The film will feature familiar faces alongside Langmajer and Vagnerová, including Zdeněk Piškula, Marek Taclík, Norbert Lichý, and Petra Špindlerová. Vladimír Skórka will direct the film, having previously worked on all three seasons of the television series. Musician Jiří Burian, also known as Kapitán Demo, will compose the film’s soundtrack.
