We prefer active rest in nature than hanging out in cafes or visiting popular tourist spots.” The couple planned the trip collaboratively, consulting with friends who had previously visited the region, including climbers Kristīne and Kristaps Liepiņi, who had experience in nearby Chile’s Atacama Desert.

Leaving Latvia during a cold spell, the couple arrived in Buenos Aires to enjoy the summer sunshine. Aišpurs expressed a fondness for winter but acknowledged the appeal of escaping to warmer weather, stating, “Don’t get me wrong, I really like winter, and it was even a little sad that I didn’t get to fully enjoy it, but I wasn’t sad that we got off in the summer.”
