Laura Benanti is known for her talent and outspokenness, and she pulled no punches when discussing her former She Loves Me costar Zachary Levi.

During a recent interview, Benanti revealed she “never liked” Levi, adding, “Everyone was like, ‘He’s so great!’ And I was like, ‘No, he’s not. He’s sucking up all the fucking energy in this room.”

Benanti elaborated on her feelings, describing Levi’s habit of “mansplaining everybody’s part to them” and organizing impromptu dance parties that she found disruptive. “He really sucked everybody in with his dance party energy, like, ‘We’re doing a dance party at half-hour,’” she recalled. “I was like, ‘Good luck, have fun.’”
She also took aim at Levi’s controversial comments following the passing of his former costar Gavin Creel. After Creel’s death, Levi made a post on Instagram Live where he implied that Creel may have died because of the COVID-19 vaccine, while also referring to the actor as his “friend.”
Benanti was furious about Levi’s actions. “For him to use Gavin’s memory — a person he was not friends with — to use his memory for his political agenda and to watch him try to make himself cry until he had one single tear, which he did not wipe away, I was like, ‘Fuck you forever,’” she shared.
