Lebrun Brothers Make History with Singapore Smash Doubles Title

Singapore – French brothers Alexis and Félix Lebrun have achieved a historic victory, winning their first Grand Smash title in men’s doubles at the WTT Singapore Smash on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The pair defeated the Chinese duo of Lin Shidong and Huang Youzheng in a commanding performance (11-6, 11-6, 11-7).

Dominant Performance in the Final

The French pair, seeded fourth, secured the win in under twenty minutes at the Infinity Arena, becoming the first French team to ever claim a Grand Smash doubles title. They faced little resistance from the third-seeded Chinese team, consistently outperforming their opponents throughout the match. Alexis Lebrun’s strong service play was instrumental in securing the first set, and the duo continued to build momentum in the subsequent sets.

Evolving Dynamic Between the Brothers

The success of Alexis (22) and Félix (19) Lebrun marks a shift in their relationship, both on and off the court. Initially, Alexis provided guidance to his younger brother. Still, as Félix has developed into an elite player, their dynamic has become more collaborative. “Before, it was more me giving a lot of advice and him trying to learn from me,” Alexis Lebrun stated. “Since he’s gotten older and is also a better table tennis player, we start to exchange a lot. Now, sometimes he gives me advice and sometimes I give him advice, it’s more like an equal relationship.” The Straits Times

Félix Lebrun Advances in Singles Competition

Félix Lebrun’s success at the Singapore Smash doesn’t end with the doubles title. He will compete in the semi-final of the singles tournament on Sunday, March 1, against world No. 1 Wang Chuqin of China. This will be a challenging match, as Lebrun has never defeated Wang Chuqin on the professional circuit. He previously reached a Grand Smash final in October 2025, where he was defeated by Wang Chuqin. Le Monde

The Lebrun brothers’ victory at the WTT Singapore Smash signifies a growing trend of European players challenging the traditional dominance of Asian and Chinese table tennis.
