Lexi Thompson Prepares for WTGL Debut While Pregnant
Lexi Thompson is preparing for the WTGL debut while approximately 25 weeks pregnant with her first child, a girl due in February, the Palm Beach Post reported.
The 31-year-old Delray Beach resident announced her pregnancy in August alongside her husband, Max Provost.
Despite adjusting her priorities, the 11-time LPGA champion remains committed to playing for Detroit’s Motor City Golf Club in the indoor simulator league. “If I play all the matches or if I just play one, just to be able to grow the game, that’s what it’s all about,” Thompson said, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Motor City Golf Club Schedule
Motor City’s debut is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 8 p.m. against the Los Angeles Golf Club. Thompson’s roster teammates include Ronni Yin and Jeeno Thitikul, while Los Angeles features Michelle Wie West, Aki Iwai, and Kiara Romero.

Additional matches for Motor City are slated for Nov. 16, Nov. 29, and Dec. 1. Whether she competes on the floor at the SoFi Center or watches from the owner’s box, Thompson plans to support her team through the end of the season in late December.
Swinging Through Pregnancy Precedents
Other players have competed professionally while pregnant on tour. Madelene Sagstrom played the Dow Championship in Midland, Michigan, in June at 27 weeks pregnant, finishing tied for ninth with a 10-under 270 after missing the cut the previous week at the U.S. Women’s Open at Riviera.
Thompson watched Sagstrom’s performance closely. “Her swing looked incredible,” Thompson told the Palm Beach Post during a league media day in September. “I’m sure it’s difficult. It’s something to plan around for sure. The next few months might be very challenging for me.”
Sagstrom described the physical adjustments as requiring flexibility rather than mechanical perfection. “Do I go a little bit more on top of the belly now or go around it?” Sagstrom said, as reported by the Palm Beach Post. “You get away from that perfect golf, and just be a little bit more flexible.”
Thompson Earns Nearly $900,000 After Retirement Announcement
Thompson’s return to competition follows a supposed retirement announced in November 2024 on the 18th green of the CME Group Tour Championship in Naples, where she received flowers, hugs and well wishes. Instead of stepping away, she played 13 starts on the LPGA Tour in 2025, finished in the top 60 of the points list, and qualified for the CME Group Tour Championship.
Since that announcement, Thompson has earned nearly $900,000 on the course, bringing her career total to $15.63 million and placing her 12th on the all-time money list, according to the Palm Beach Post.
“I just want to show women being pregnant doesn’t stop you. You can still achieve what you want,” Thompson said, via the Palm Beach Post. “It might slow you down towards the end a little bit, but you want to just take the time for yourself and your upcoming family and your growing family.”
