Liam Payne’s journey to sobriety comes to light: ‘Clean for weeks’

Liam Payne’s tragic passing has sent shockwaves through the music world. A close friend of the late singer has shed light on his struggles with addiction and his recent efforts to overcome them.

According to the Daily Mail, the friend revealed that Payne had been clean for weeks and had been diligently attending rehab and making progress in his recovery. He had even been declared 100% sober after undergoing medical examinations for his visa renewal in Argentina.

“Liam had been clean for weeks,” the insider shared. “He had been to rehab more than once. He had had treatment in the UK and in California. He went to Argentina to renew his USA visa where he had to undergo medical examination because of his history with alcohol and drugs. The results of the tests were good. Liam was 100 per cent sober.”

However, tragedy struck when Payne relapsed, allegedly due to individuals at his hotel taking advantage of his vulnerability.

“He went to check in at the hotel, and at some point someone there started giving him drugs,” the friend revealed. “Liam had tried really hard to get clean, then they preyed on him. These people only care about money. They didn’t care about his health.”

The insider also mentioned that Payne had recently been under the care of a new psychiatrist in Florida, and everyone around him had hoped he was on the path to recovery.

TMZ reported that investigators found a mixture of drugs called “pink cocaine,” which contained methamphetamine, ketamine, and MDMA with crack cocaine and benzodiazepine during the initial search. However, the outlet also stated that due to the circumstances, the full toxicology report will take several weeks to be released.

The report suggests that Payne’s injuries were caused by falling three stories from a hotel window, and no one else was involved in his death.

Payne had openly discussed his struggles with mental health and addiction in the past. He had sought treatment for excessive alcohol and drug consumption before his untimely passing on October 16th.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle many individuals face with addiction and the importance of seeking help and support. Resources are available for those struggling with substance abuse.
