Liberty Media Reports $4.48 Billion Revenue in 2025, Driven by Formula 1 and MotoGP

Liberty Media, the parent company of Formula 1 (F1) and, more recently, MotoGP, announced a total revenue of $4.48 billion for the 2025 fiscal year. Formula 1 contributed the majority of this revenue, generating $3.87 billion, a 14% increase compared to the previous year.

Financial Highlights

The company’s full-year financial results, released earlier today, revealed a significant surge in operating income, reaching $577 million, up from $287 million in 2024. Adjusted OIBDA (operating income before depreciation and amortization) also saw a substantial increase, rising by 20% to $946 million for F1.

MotoGP Acquisition and Performance

Liberty Media finalized the acquisition of MotoGP in July 2025, securing an 84% stake for $3.1 billion. The motorcycle racing series demonstrated strong performance, with revenue increasing by 14% year-on-year to $573 million. Operating income for MotoGP grew by 86% to $54 million, and adjusted OIBDA reached $201 million, both figures calculated on a pro-forma basis.

Revenue Breakdown for Formula 1

Formula 1’s primary income streams are diversified, with race promotion revenue accounting for 26.7%, media rights fees contributing 31.3%, and sponsorship fees representing 21.7% of the total. Additional revenue sources, including hospitality, freight, and licensing, made up the remaining 20.3%. All revenue sectors experienced growth during the year.

Growth in Viewership and Fan Engagement

Liberty Media reported a 4% increase in total fan attendance during the 2025 F1 season, reaching 6.75 million. Live viewership of races also rose significantly, increasing by 24% year-on-year. Growth in media rights revenue was partially attributed to the increasing popularity of F1 TV subscriptions and revenue associated with the F1 movie.

Commercial Developments

Key commercial achievements for F1 in 2025 included a recent sponsorship deal with Standard Chartered and a broadcast rights extension with ESPN across Latin America and the Caribbean.

2026 Season Outlook

The 2026 Formula 1 season is scheduled to begin on March 8th in Melbourne, Australia. For MotoGP, the 2026 campaign commences this weekend in Thailand. Dorna Sports has been rebranded as MotoGP Sports Entertainment SL following the acquisition, and several personnel changes have been implemented within the organization, including the appointment of Chase Carey as the new president.

MotoGP Viewership and Attendance

MotoGP also experienced growth in viewership and attendance, with TV viewership increasing by 9% year-on-year and in-person fan attendance rising by 21%.

Derek Chang, president and chief executive at Liberty Media, stated: “2025 was an exceptional and productive year for Liberty, and we are excited about the opportunities ahead. We delivered on our key strategic objectives – strengthening Formula 1’s growth trajectory, [and] completing the MotoGP acquisition.”
