Livorno’s Orlando School Pioneers Novel Vocational Training Paths with Industry Partnerships
Livorno, Italy – The professional Orlando school in Piazza 2 Giugno is introducing innovative vocational training programs designed to bridge the gap between education and employment. These initiatives include a new four-year program for Motor Vehicle Technicians (IeFP), continued expansion of the 4+2 model in yacht mechanics and systems, and the launch of an evening course focused on maintenance and technical assistance.
New IeFP Technician Program
Starting in September, the school will offer a four-year IeFP program for Technicians for the repair of motor vehicles. This program focuses on the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electromechanical parts and systems, as well as tire repair and replacement. The curriculum emphasizes practical training, culminating in a final exam with a practical component. The program is equivalent to a high school diploma and provides a pathway to further education at ITS (Higher Technical Institutes).
Expanding Dual Apprenticeship Opportunities
The Orlando school is among four Tuscan schools awarded by the Region for innovative first-level apprenticeship paths. This recognition stems from a regional tender aimed at promoting the educational success of apprentices. The school’s approach involves close collaboration with employers, shortening the distance between classroom learning and real-world work experience.
Industry Partnerships and Apprenticeships
The institute’s mission is to train technicians in the installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems. Each year, the school launches first-level apprenticeship courses for fourth-grade students. A recent agreement with CNA (Confederazione Nazionale dell’Artigianato e della Piccola e Media Impresa) will further facilitate student entry into the workforce.
CNA Collaboration
The agreement with CNA Livorno will provide graduating students with personalized orientation activities at the CNA employment agency. It also aims to raise awareness among CNA-affiliated companies about the school’s internship and apprenticeship opportunities. Specifically, the collaboration will focus on identifying the professional needs of local businesses to ensure the school’s curriculum remains aligned with market demands. CNA will also conduct profiling of graduating students to match their skills with available job opportunities.
Modernized Facilities
In preparation for the new IeFP course, the school has invested in a professional tire changing machine to enhance the practical training experience. The school has also reopened mechanical workshops and laboratories.
Evening Course for Adult Learners
The school will also offer an evening course beginning in September, focusing on Maintenance and Technical Assistance. This course is designed for adults looking to resume their education or acquire new technological skills.
