More than three months after the 28-M elections, the popular Fernando López Miras has finally been re-elected this Thursday as president of the Region of Murcia. He has been the last of the regional presidents of the PP in closing his pact with Vox which, in this case, has been justified by the need to avoid the abyss of an electoral repetition. So what for the left has been the end of a “theater”, for Vox has been “the victory of common sense”, which is none other than its entry into the Murcian Government. His condition from minute one to vote in favor of López Miras.

Now, if López Miras promised in the opening speech of the investiture debate in the Regional Assembly govern “from moderation and centrality”, his government partner sent him a message – at least a warning – this Thursday. “We are not going to lower any of the flags that we have raised,” stressed the Vox leader, José Ángel Antelo.

During his speech prior to the vote, Antelo assured that “all the measures of the agreement bear the signature of PP and Vox”, so the “obligation” of both will be to “comply with the entirety” of the pact. An agreement whose formal document contemplates “ideological neutrality” in the classrooms, the withdrawal of direct subsidies to employers and unions or the protection of the Mar Menor (without further specification of how to do it, which is where PP and Vox collide).

In Antelo’s words, a “sensible and common sense” agreement. Hence, after promising López Miras that “Vox will work loyally and reliably”, he then charged against the left. “The time for bowing our heads in front of the left is over. We are better than them,” stated Antelo, making it clear that Vox does not want his entry into the Murcian Executive to end up leaving him in the background of invisibility. Of course, he has promised that the new Government will speak with “a single voice” despite any discrepancies that may exist.

In his turn to reply to the groups, López Miras himself has also harshly attacked the spokespersons of the PSOE and the Mixed Group: “Do not give lessons with that patina of ideological supremacy.” “You really swallow everything,” he said to Jose Velez (PSOE) and Maria Marin (We can), in reference to the “shameful negotiation” with the Catalan independentists for the investiture of Pedro Sánchez.
