Nebraska Extension Webinar to Address Low Pregnancy Rates in Young Cows
LINCOLN, Neb — Low pregnancy rates in young cows can significantly impact a cow-calf producer’s bottom line, increasing herd replacement costs and reducing long-term profitability. To address this critical issue, Nebraska Extension is hosting a webinar designed to provide producers with research-based insights and practical strategies for improving reproductive success.

The webinar, “Considerations of Causes of Low Pregnancy Rates in Young Cows,” will be held on Tuesday, March 10, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Mountain time (7:30 p.m. Central). The session will delve into both biological and management factors that influence reproductive performance in young cows.
Expert Presentations
The webinar will feature presentations from leading experts in the field, including:
- Heifer Development: Dr. Rick Funston and Dr. Kacie McCarthy
- Genetic Selection: Dr. Matt Spangler
- Nutrition for the Cow: Dr. Karla Wilke
- Infectious Diseases and Infertility: Dr. Brian Vander Ley and Dr. Matt Hille
The program will begin with 40 minutes of presentations from each speaker, followed by a live question-and-answer session. Participants will have the opportunity to interact directly with Nebraska Extension specialists, veterinarians, and educators.
