Luke Littler: Poised to Conquer the Darts World
Luke Littler, the 17-year-old darts sensation, is making waves in the professional world. After a breakout performance at last year’s PDC World Championship, where he made it to the final despite being relatively unknown outside of the darts community, Littler is back with a vengeance.
A Rapid Rise to Stardom
After a stunning victory against Nathan Aspinall in the quarter-finals of this year’s World Championship, Littler sits on the brink of major history.
That win ensured Littler added another £100,000 to his prize money haul for the last year and if he wins the title on Friday evening, the £500,000 cheque will take him over he £1million mark for the last year.
Heading into this year’s World Championship, Littler had already won £618,500, a figure that excludes an additional £275,000 he earned for clinching his first PDC Premier League title. Already, Littler has set a host of records for a debut year on the PDC Tour, securing him significant financial rewards from both the organization and commercial partners. Huge sponsorship deals have flowed Littler’s way over the last 12 months.
On the Verge of the World Number One Spot
With his impressive run at the World Championship, Littler is closing in on the coveted world number one spot currently held by Luke Humphries.
Humphries retains the title for now thanks to his stellar couple of years, which have earned him a comfortable lead at the top of the PDC Order of Merit. However, Littler will become the new world number two if he claims the World Championship title this week.
The teenager’s confidence is growing with each match.
“I think we both played very well there,” said Littler after his win against Aspinall. “I’m so glad to win. The crowd were chanting for Nathan, they wanted the comeback, but I had to finish it…
“When they’re going in I’m playing with freedom, but now I’m looking on to the semi-finals.”
A Battle for the Title
Littler now faces a tough challenge in Stephen Bunting in the semi-finals.
What time is Luke Littler playing tonight?
Littler takes on Stephen Bunting in the semi-finals on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
The match is the second in the evening session, after Michael van Gerwen vs Chris Dobey. Littler and Bunting are therefore likely to take to the stage at around 9pm GMT.
A New Era for Darts?
As Littler continues to rewrite the record books, one thing is for sure: a new era has begun in the world of darts. This young prodigy is a force to be reckoned with, and fans can’t wait to see his name etched into the history books.
