Madonna Returns to Acting in Apple TV+’s “The Studio” Season 2

After a nearly 25-year hiatus from scripted acting roles, Madonna is set to appear in the second season of Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed comedy series, “The Studio.” The pop icon teased her return to live-action acting on Instagram with a post from Venice, Italy, where the series is currently filming. The Hollywood Reporter and People confirmed the news on March 19, 2026.

A Return to the Screen

Madonna’s last significant acting roles included a cameo in the sitcom “Will & Grace” in 2003, a part in the James Bond film “Die Another Day” (2002), and the lead role in Guy Ritchie’s “Swept Away” (2002). She also lent her voice to the animated film “Arthur and the Minimoys” in 2006. Prior to that, she faced critical backlash for her acting performances, receiving nine Golden Raspberry Awards. She also attempted directing with the feature film “WE” (2011) and the short film “Secret Project Revolution” (2013), neither of which were well-received.

“The Studio” – A Critical and Commercial Success

“The Studio,” which premiered in March 2025, has garnered significant praise for its satirical take on the Hollywood film industry. The series achieved unprecedented success at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards in September 2025, winning a record-breaking 13 trophies. Seth Rogen also won the award for best actor in a comedy series. “The Studio” continued its winning streak at the Golden Globes in early 2026.
