Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis filed his nomination from the Nagpur South-West constituency on Friday, October 25, 2024, expressing confidence in the ruling Mahayuti’s victory in the upcoming Assembly polls.

Fadnavis Highlights Development Record

Addressing a rally before filing his papers, Fadnavis highlighted the Mahayuti government’s achievements, emphasizing its development initiatives like the Nagpur Metro Rail, Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway, and other projects that have transformed Nagpur. He stressed that these accomplishments speak volumes about their governance.

“People can see the development in Nagpur. These projects have changed the face of Nagpur,” Fadnavis declared.

The BJP leader, seeking reelection from Nagpur South-West, a constituency he’s represented for 25 years, also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led Centre’s efforts for Maharashtra’s progress.

Ladki Bahin Scheme: Key Factor in Victory?

Fadnavis pointed to the popularity of the recently launched ‘Ladki Bahin’ scheme, a flagship initiative providing monthly stipends of ₹1,500 to underprivileged women, as a major factor in securing victory. He criticized the Opposition Congress, particularly party leaders Sunil Kedar and Nana Patole, for challenging the scheme in court.

“Our Ladki Bahin scheme is enough to defeat them,” Fadnavis asserted.

Mahayuti’s Focus on Vidarbha Development

Fadnavis further emphasized the Mahayuti government’s focus on Vidarbha’s development, citing initiatives like the Gosikhurd irrigation projects, Amravati airport development, and various other ventures.

“The Mahayuti government is creating a new Maharashtra under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is creating a new India,” Fadnavis emphasized.

While confident about the Mahayuti’s victory, Fadnavis expressed unwavering commitment to protecting reservation quotas for marginalized communities, accusing the Congress of historically opposing such provisions.
