Maple Leafs’ bobby McMann Suspended One Game for High-Sticking Incident
Toronto, ON – Toronto Maple Leafs forward Bobby McMann has been handed a one-game suspension by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety following a high-sticking incident during Tuesday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The incident, which occurred early in the third period, resulted in McMann’s stick contacting Lightning forward Oliver Bjorkstrand in the helmet during a physical exchange.
McMann received a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for the infraction. As an inevitable result of the suspension, the 6-foot-2 center will be unavailable for Toronto’s upcoming contest against the san Jose Sharks on Thursday.
Through 29 games this season, McMann has contributed eight goals and 14 points, establishing himself as a valuable offensive contributor for the Maple Leafs. His absence will be felt as Toronto navigates a competitive Eastern Conference landscape.
Currently, the Maple Leafs hold a 14-11-4 record, placing them fifth in the Atlantic Division. The team finds themselves in a tight race for a playoff position, sitting just two points behind both the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Rangers, who currently occupy the two Eastern Conference wild-card spots. The suspension adds another layer of challenge to Toronto’s pursuit of securing a postseason berth.
