KGM byd’s Torus Hybrid Sets New Standards in South Korea’s Hybrid Market

In a significant development for South Korea’s automotive sector, KG Mobility (KGM) is challenging domestic competitors with its latest innovation: the Torus Hybrid. Developed in partnership with the renowned Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD, this vehicle encapsulates cutting-edge hybrid technology and marks KGM’s foray into the hybrid segment. With its launch date set for March 14, KGM plans to not only impress industry experts but also cater to environmentally conscious consumers.

The Torus Hybrid emerges from a strategic collaboration between KGM and BYD, formalized in their "Next-Generation Hybrid System Joint Development Agreement" signed in November 2023. This ambitious partnership underscores a 15-month journey of research, development, and rigorous testing, underscoring the vehicle’s robustness.

One of the defining features of the Torus Hybrid is its innovative 1.5T turbocharged gasoline hybrid engine, jointly developed by KGM and BYD. This engine integrates a suite of 15 advanced fuel efficiency technologies, including a Miller cycle management system and a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT). The engine’s sophisticated design also employs advanced coating technologies within its cylinders, enhancing durability and boosting power output by optimizing fuel pressure from 250bar to 350bar, all while minimizing emissions.

Central to the Torus Hybrid’s operation is its Dual Tech Hybrid System. Building on BYD’s plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology expertise, KGM has engineered a next-generation solution that prominently features a large 130kW motor, operating in conjunction with an efficiency-enhanced Dual Motor Hybrid Transmission (e-DHT). This configuration maximizes torque, achieving an impressive 177 horsepower and 300 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, a secondary motor specializes in recuperative energy, enhancing the vehicle’s overall efficiency by charging a substantial 1.84kW battery pack.

In alignment with the vehicle’s launch, KGM is initiating the "Fast Delivery" event, offering customers the opportunity to secure their Torus Hybrid with expedited delivery timelines. Starting March 14, the first 100 customers to sign a contract by March 17 will be guaranteed an in-month delivery, highlighting KGM’s commitment to customer service excellence and flexibility. Furthermore, existing hybrid vehicle owners who switch allegiance to the Torus Hybrid can look forward to a similarly speedy delivery process within April.

This strategic launch and the amalgamation of advanced technology showcase KGM’s dedication to establishing itself as a pioneer in South Korea’s hybrid market. By combining high-performance engineering with a customer-centric approach, the Torus Hybrid is set to redefine the standards for eco-friendly driving in the region.

For further details on the Torus Hybrid, consumers are encouraged to visit the official KGM website or their local dealership to explore the vehicle’s full capabilities and participate in the Fast Delivery event. This innovative hybrid promises a seamless fusion of performance and sustainability, aligning perfectly with the evolving demands of modern consumers.
