Miles Davis: A Legacy of Innovation
He was one of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century. Albums like Birth of the Cool, Kind of Blue, and Sketches of Spain, along with the electric Bitches Brew, fundamentally changed jazz and music as a whole. We’re talking about Miles Davis, born May 26, 1926, in Alton, Illinois, and who died September 28, 1991, in Santa Monica, California, at age 65 from pneumonia.
Marcus Miller, a major innovator in jazz and electric bass, will honor Davis with a special performance. He’s bringing “We Want Miles!” to Italy in summer 2026, a project celebrating the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis’s birth. Miller shared a deep creative and personal connection with the iconic artist.
Miller collaborated with Davis on landmark albums like Tutu, Amandla, and Siesta. These recordings redefined modern jazz and cemented Miller’s place in music history.
“We Want Miles” marks the first announced event in a series of centennial celebrations.
