Elfsborg Prepares to Host Örgryte IS in Allsvenskan Match
IF Elfsborg enters its penultimate home match of the Allsvenskan season on Sunday, hosting Örgryte IS. Midfielder Marcus Rohdén and his teammates are searching for a three-pointer following three draws against Sirius, Malmö, and AIK.
The team secured its latest point during an away fixture against AIK earlier in the week, where a late header from defender Rasmus Wikström in the 90th minute sealed a 2–2 draw. Rohdén returned to action with a 20-minute substitute appearance, marking his second straight match back following an extended injury layoff.
It feels good, the body feels good and it’s extremely nice and fun to play football again,
Rohdén said. It’s very tedious when you stand outside and watch the matches instead of being on the pitch so you appreciate immensely being back.
Allsvenskan Standings and European Qualification Stakes
IF Elfsborg currently sits three points behind BK Häcken in fourth place and six points adrift of third-place Djurgårdens IF in the Allsvenskan table with four rounds remaining. Securing a three-pointer against Örgryte is vital for the club’s pursuit of a European qualification spot.
Sunday’s opponents arrive in Borås fighting to stay up. Örgryte IS sits on a relegation spot after suffering a 1–2 defeat against Mjällby AIF earlier in the week. Rohdén expects a fierce challenge from the visiting side.
It’s a tough match, just like everyone in Allsvenskan,
Rohdén said. Örgryte has everything to play for too so it will be very tough. We will focus on doing our things well, making sure to challenge them and get balls into their box.
Tactical Approach for Sunday’s Fixture
Rohdén emphasized the importance of maintaining possession without becoming passive.
It will be important that we have patience with the ball, but do not become passive in our possession,
Rohdén noted. High tempo, challenge them and get into their box, then we will be dangerous. The European places are still alive so we have everything to play for and want to finish nicely.
