Maruti Suzuki Automates Driving Test Tracks in Tamil Nadu to Enhance Road Safety

New Delhi – Maruti Suzuki India Limited has fully automated ten driving test tracks across Tamil Nadu, in partnership with the state’s Transport Department. This initiative, stemming from a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed in October 2025, aims to improve the objectivity and efficiency of driver testing, ultimately contributing to road safety in the region.

Automated Driving Test Tracks: A Technology-Driven Approach

The Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTTs) are equipped with advanced technologies including high-definition cameras, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensors, real-time analytics, and an integrated IT system as reported by the Economic Times. These features enable a standardized and unbiased evaluation process for both two-wheeler and light motor vehicle (LMV) applicants.

Addressing Road Safety Concerns in India

The implementation of ADTTs comes at a critical time, as India faces significant challenges related to road safety. According to data shared by Maruti Suzuki, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways reported 177,000 road accident deaths in 2024 . By promoting disciplined driving practices and rigorous driver evaluation, Maruti Suzuki and the Tamil Nadu government hope to reduce these numbers.

Locations of the New ADTTs

The ten ADTTs are strategically located across Tamil Nadu to serve a wide range of applicants:

  • Coimbatore (Central)
  • Tiruvannamalai
  • Krishnagiri
  • Madurai (North)
  • Sivagangai
  • Dindigul
  • Tiruchirappalli (West)
  • Tirunelveli
  • Tuticorin
  • Marthandam

Maruti Suzuki’s Expanding Network of ADTTs

This project in Tamil Nadu is part of Maruti Suzuki’s broader initiative to establish ADTTs across India. As of October 2025, the company had set up 45 ADTTs nationwide, including 17 in Uttar Pradesh, 14 in Delhi, 7 in Bihar, 4 in Uttarakhand, 2 in Haryana, and 1 in Jammu & Kashmir . A further 21 ADTTs are planned for Rajasthan, and the addition of the ten in Tamil Nadu brings the total to 76 .

MoA and CSR Initiative

The project is being carried out under Maruti Suzuki’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, as formalized in the MoA signed with the Transport Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on October 14, 2025 and .
