Brendan Blewitt: A Life Remembered in Knockmore, Mayo
Brendan Blewitt, a cherished member of the Knockmore community in County Mayo, Ireland, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 21st, 2025, at the Mayo Hospice in Castlebar. His death has been met with widespread sadness and tributes from across North Mayo, recognizing his significant contributions to both his family and the local Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club.
A Life Well-Lived
Brendan was predeceased by his beloved wife, Christina, his parents, and siblings. He is survived by his loving family: Brenda, Catherina, Joseph, and Laurita, as well as his adored grandchildren Dara, Emily, Lauren, Emma, Charlie, Cillian, Grace, Kate, and Lola. He is also remembered by his daughter-in-law, Deirdre, sons-in-law Ross, Fran, and Joe, sisters Nora (USA) and Sr. Aloysius, and brothers-in-law Paddy, Mike, PJ, and Anthony. His memory will also be cherished by his sisters-in-law Mary, Josephine, and Eileen, along with numerous nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbors, and friends.
Community Involvement and GAA Legacy
Brendan Blewitt was a foundational figure in the success of Knockmore GAA Club. The club acknowledged his quiet and unassuming manner, which earned him the respect of all involved. He dedicated years to building the club to its current prominence, leaving a lasting legacy exemplified by his children, Joseph and Laurita, who continue to serve the club faithfully. Knockmore GAA stated, “May he be at peace now with his beloved Christina and may his reward be great in heaven.”
Funeral Arrangements
Brendan will rest in repose at his family residence in Runagry (F26 XY26) on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Removal will take place on Monday to The Church of Christ The King, Knockmore, for Funeral Mass at 1:00 PM, followed by burial at Cloghans Cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be live-streamed at https://churchtv.ie/knockmore.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mayo Roscommon Hospice at https://www.hospice.ie/donations/in-loving-memory/ or through Clarkes Funeral Services, Foxford (0861700068). The family has requested privacy at all other times.
