Massachusetts Attorney General Sues Bitcoin Depot Over Alleged Crypto Scam Facilitation

Boston, MA – 2026/02/04 02:06:21 – Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea joy Campbell has filed a lawsuit against Bitcoin Depot, a major cryptocurrency kiosk operator, alleging deceptive practices and the facilitation of scams that cost Massachusetts consumers over $10 million.

The lawsuit,filed on Tuesday,accuses Bitcoin Depot of knowingly enabling cryptocurrency scams and employing tactics that resulted in inflated costs for customers. Specifically,the Attorney General’s office claims the company failed to implement adequate fraud prevention measures,allowing scammers to exploit its kiosks and defraud vulnerable individuals.

according to the complaint, Bitcoin Depot allegedly refused to issue refunds to victims of these scams and misrepresented the extent of fraudulent activity occurring through its network. This lack of responsiveness and transparency further exacerbated the financial harm suffered by Massachusetts residents.

Attorney General Campbell is seeking a court order to compel Bitcoin depot to enhance its fraud prevention protocols, notably regarding large transactions. The lawsuit also demands that the company provide restitution to consumers who were financially harmed by scams facilitated through its kiosks. This includes a full refund of losses incurred by victims.
