Massage Therapist Accused of Sexual Assault in Donegal Hotel
A massage therapist faces serious charges of sexual assault after allegedly targeting a female guest during a treatment at a Co Donegal hotel. The incident occurred on July 9th, 2022.
The accused, who remains unnamed for legal reasons, appeared in Donegal Circuit Court at Letterkenny Courthouse for an application hearing. He denies the charge, which carries a maximum sentence of ten years imprisonment.
Details of the Alleged Assault
Mr. Simon Gillespie, barrister representing the accused, provided a brief overview of the case to Judge John Aylmer. Mr. Gillespie’s outline included alleged instances of oral sex, groping, and digital penetration, stating that the incident lasted for an extended period of minutes.
The barrister highlighted a potential consent issue, describing it as “somewhat complex,” adding another layer of intricacy to the case.
Defendant’s Appearance and Bail
The accused, who now resides in a different country, traveled back specifically for the brief court appearance. Judge Aylmer granted the application for senior counsel to be assigned to the accused, ensuring he receives adequate legal representation.
The defendant was released on bail, pending the next court date scheduled for December 9th, 2025.
