Manitoba parents and guardians are being urged to consider the risk of measles as spring break vacations and Easter holidays approach. Public health officials are advising caution for those travelling or attending large gatherings, as the province experiences a surge in cases.

Current Measles Situation in Manitoba

As of March 14, 2026, Manitoba has reported 319 confirmed cases and 45 probable cases of measles this year, according to provincial data. This already surpasses the total number of cases reported in all of 2025.

Manitoba currently accounts for approximately 60% of all measles cases reported in Canada so far in 2026, according to federal data updated on March 14.

The Manitoba Health communicable disease prevention officials, Richard Baydack and Santina Lee, recommend the following:

  • Stay home and avoid travel or events if your child exhibits symptoms of measles.
