Michael Page Criticizes UFC Fighter Pay Following Conor Benn Deal

Michael ‘Venom’ Page has voiced his disappointment regarding fighter compensation within the UFC, particularly in light of Conor Benn’s recent $15 million contract with Zuffa Boxing, a venture under the TKO Group Holdings umbrella. Page’s concerns echo a growing sentiment among UFC fighters questioning the disparity in pay between those within the UFC and those signed to Zuffa Boxing.

Concerns Over Pay Disparity

The controversy stems from reports that former boxer Conor Benn was offered a one-fight contract worth $15 million by Zuffa Boxing.1 This figure has sparked outrage among UFC fighters, including Page and Sean O’Malley, who feel it highlights a significant undervaluation of talent within the UFC.

“I heard about the, if you want to call it an increase in the bonus structure (in the UFC) and this is why I wasn’t bothered to be excited initially because for me, that doesn’t do enough, comparatively to the money they’ve just brought in for themselves,” Page stated on The Ariel Helwani Show.2 He added that Dana White’s enthusiasm for ventures like Zuffa Boxing and slap fighting, coupled with the substantial investment in fighters outside of the UFC, is “upsetting” and “disappointing.”

Page emphasized the need for greater recognition of the value UFC fighters bring to the organization, stating, “We have deserved more. I hate hearing stories of fighters getting to the pinnacle of your career in terms of the UFC and still being broke. That shouldn’t exist.”2

UFC’s New Bonus Structure

The UFC recently announced an increase in post-fight bonuses from $50,000 to $100,000, with an additional $25,000 “finish bonus” for knockouts or submissions.1 However, Page and other fighters believe this increase is insufficient compared to the financial opportunities being presented outside of the UFC.

Eddie Hearn Predicts Fighter Unrest

Eddie Hearn, a promoter who previously worked with Conor Benn, predicted a potential “revolt” among UFC fighters in 2026 due to the growing disparity in pay.2 This prediction appears to be gaining traction as more fighters publicly express their dissatisfaction.

Page’s Upcoming Fight

Michael Page is scheduled to return to the Octagon on March 21, 2026, at UFC London’s O2 Arena, where he will face Sam Patterson.3 Despite preparing for this fight, Page remains vocal about the need for fairer compensation for UFC fighters.

Recent UFC Activity

Prior to his scheduled fight with Patterson, Page secured unanimous decision victories over Sharaputdin Magomedov in February 2025 and Jared Cannonier.3 However, he has expressed frustration with the lack of consistent opportunities and the difficulty in securing fights at his preferred weight class (welterweight).

Page has stated that he has repeatedly requested welterweight bouts but has been offered middleweight fights instead, leading him to question the UFC’s matchmaking process.3

4 Michael ‘Venom’ Page signed with the UFC in October 2023 after leaving Bellator as a free agent.
