The court ruling canceled Rourke’s lease and granted possession of the property to the owner. The eviction order was issued “by default” due to the fact that Rourke did not respond to the legal proceedings within the timeframe stipulated by California law.
Rourke Cites Financial Hardship and Property Condition
Rourke reportedly explained that his financial situation had been complicated by the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2023 writers’ strike. He also cited concerns about the condition of the house, stating that he had lived there without issue for the first five years but that problems had subsequently arisen.
